• This Alternate magic is available to both plumii and kazuli
• This Alternate magic replaces any previously learned magic and blocks its development and presence, which in turn obliges changes to the character's design if they have previously had elemental parts present;

Shadow magic...

• Occurs mainly in individuals who are aloof from social interactions, prefer reclusive lifestyles;
• Magic grants the ability to divide an individual's consciousness, giving up a portion of consciousness to its own shadow. This creates a loyal minion, friend, or foe, depending on the expectations and attitudes of the host;
• The shadow draws energy from its own host, resulting in a significant deterioration of physical health or mental health - depending on what the host chooses to give up to create the shadow;
  • By giving up one's consciousness, the host experiences impairments related to memory and concentration. Effect on Stats: -8 sanity;
  • Giving up their flesh causes the host to have musculoskeletal disorders and shortens their waking period. Effect on Stats: -8 health.
  • The host can revoke a shadow and regain the gifted part of its mind or flesh if the host and the shadow are on good terms. The host can destroy a shadow by damaging it with another shadow if the host has a bad relationship with it, losing the gifted part of its mind or flesh.

Design Notes:

• The presence of this magic contradicts the presence of any other magic, as well as the multimind trait.
• One character can only have two shadows at a time - one created by the mind, the other by the flesh;
• Shadows can take any shape.

Redesign Notes:

• Cannot be removed when shadows are present;
• Cannot be removed when the character is on an expedition.

Expeditionary Potential:

• The wielder of this magic can create a shadow that is immune to physical damage. However, shadow enemies who can attack the shadow can destroy it with permanent loss of part of ther consciousness or body.
